Far too many hospitals are putting profits over patients as a result of large-scale mergers and executive salaries. These create all-too-powerful regional and national monopolies.
The purchase by venture capital companies of many rural hospitals often results in closures, thereby putting many Americans at medical risk. The question of what is happening to the level of charity care required of non-profit (tax exempt) hospitals needs to be examined among other ongoing, unresolved issues.
